A quiet, reflective moment with a warm cup
Clinical Supervision

A protected space for the work of holding others

Clinical supervision for counsellors, psychotherapists, and people in other caring professional roles — a regular, held space to download, reflect, and stay grounded.

Caring for others is demanding work. Vital to your self-care as a professional is securing accepting and empathic support — a place to download and debrief your clinical work, reflect on your practice, and recover from the stresses and strains that can be part of caring for others on a daily basis.

That is what clinical supervision is for. Not the ticking of a professional-body box, but a genuinely reflective relationship in which you can bring your whole clinical self — the confident bits, the uncertain bits, the tired bits — and be met.

Supervision is where the work of the consulting room meets the wisdom of another practised eye — where your instincts get tested against someone who has walked further along the path.

What supervision with me looks like

A practitioner looking out over a still lake — the reflective posture supervision invites
Reflection is not an add-on — it is part of the work.

I offer supervision to counsellors, psychotherapists, and people in other caring professional roles who understand the value of a supervisor who takes the work seriously, whilst retaining a relevant sense of humour.

My style is warm but rigorous. Clients with complex issues are honestly discussed. Ethical questions get real attention. Your instincts are tested — and, more often than not, confirmed.

Client confidentiality is strictly maintained.

The aim is that you leave each session more grounded, more equipped, and more clear about your next step with the person or situation you brought.

I bring particular experience of working with developmental and relational trauma, and can offer specialist supervision to practitioners whose caseload is trauma-heavy. I also draw on my background in both employed and self-employed practice, which means the organisational aspects of your working life get real understanding, not just the clinical ones.

Two supervision formats

One-to-One

Individual Supervision

The classic supervision relationship — you and me, meeting regularly to work through the material of your practice at a rhythm that suits you.

  • Usually monthly or fortnightly
  • In person or online (Zoom)
  • Sessions of 60 or 90 minutes
  • Continuous supervision contract with clear expectations on both sides
Group

Group Supervision

A held peer space where a small group of practitioners meets regularly to explore case material and their own responses together — with the added richness of multiple reflective voices.

  • Small groups of 3-5 practitioners
  • Usually monthly, 90 to 120 minutes
  • Online or in person
  • Especially valuable for solo private practitioners

Who I supervise

My supervisees include:

  • Trainee counsellors and psychotherapists in placement, needing the required supervision alongside their training
  • Newly qualified practitioners establishing their practice and their supervision rhythm
  • Experienced practitioners looking for a supervisor who can meet the depth of their work
  • Trauma-focused practitioners whose caseload calls for a supervisor with real trauma experience
  • Practitioners in other caring roles — teachers, healthcare workers, chaplains, and others whose work involves holding people through hard things

Fees

Fees vary according to context — whether you are a trainee, self-employed, employed by an organisation, or in a group. Every arrangement starts with a conversation so we can find the right fit for your circumstances.

The best supervision is a long conversation held over years. What we agree at the start is designed to grow with you.

What you can expect

Confidentiality
What is brought into supervision stays there, within the standard professional exceptions.
Warmth
A held space where you can bring your uncertainty as well as your competence.
Rigour
Honest reflection, not agreement for the sake of it. Ethical and clinical challenge where it serves you and your clients.
Continuity
Regular rhythm builds the reflective muscle that keeps practice alive over years, not months.
