About Me

Annie in the room where much of this work happens.

Hello, and welcome. My name is Annie Kissane, and I am the person behind Authentic Therapy & Training. I love people, and enjoy supporting and enabling others to grow, to heal, and to become — whoever they authentically are.

With over forty years of serving and working with people in various settings, and over twenty years as a counselling trainer, I bring understanding and maturity to my work. I take an integrative position, along with the perspective that everyone is unique and deserves respect and compassion. Drawing on a broad theoretical base, I adapt how we work together according to your needs and the nature of your experience.

As an experienced therapist and supervisor, I hold qualifications and accreditations across therapy, education, and supervision. I am based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, and have a home office where I see clients, as well as working for organisations on a self-employed basis.

What I offer

Three distinct strands of work — each with its own depth and its own audience. Follow whichever route feels most true to what you are looking for.

1
For yourself · For your relationship

Therapy

People who choose to go for therapy are making a courageous choice — to face life's challenges, to grow in self-awareness, and to potentially change the direction or repeating patterns that have been a feature of their life so far. Individual and relational counselling, drawing on many years of experience with trauma, faith, and the long slow work of healing.

2
For counsellors · For caring professionals

Support

Vital to your self-care as a professional is securing accepting and empathic support — a place to download and debrief clinical work, reflect on your practice, and recover from the stresses and strains that can be part of caring for others on a daily basis. Clinical supervision, professional mentoring, and BACP accreditation companionship.

3
For practitioners · For organisations

Training

Home to the Level 7 Diploma in Trauma-informed Advanced Therapeutic Practice — a new, CPCAB-accredited postgraduate course built around the Anastasis model. Also ongoing CPD, masterclasses, and bespoke training for organisations. Small cohorts, unhurried teaching, and depth over volume.

The Anastasis Model

Sitting at the heart of much of what I do is Anastasis — the working model I have spent years building for accompanying people through developmental and relational trauma. It draws on attachment theory, polyvagal insight, transactional analysis, positive psychology, and much else — held together by a shared language and a walkable map.

You can read the model unfolding, piece by piece, on the blog. This is where posts go live.
